***** New Business *****
Discussed sponsorships. What works and not for the meeting. (Example having the Dinner the second nights as numerous members finds it necessary to fly out the night before the business meeting).
Also Chris discussed having the Banquet early for the note above….discussion amongst the members present reported that the activities were in conflict with the availability of the banquet. It worked out well and should be considered in the future.
Greg Rahn (AESO) brought up that the Breakfast with the business meeting was also a good success.
Michelle Wynne (Tesla) reported that the Hospitality House is an important part of the meeting. It gives the membership a place to share information and experience. It is a good central meeting place.
Greg Rahn (AESO) mentioned that the fall meeting was to be a joint meeting with the SW in Las Vegas again. He also mentioned that although the 2012 spring meeting is still 2 years away, it will be hosted by Transpower NZ in Wellington, New Zealand so travel arrangements should be made as early as possible. CEHs will be provided.
A discussion was held on the Transpower meeting and how to support it. March 2012 Sharon Traynor suggested an idea of each shop having a pool of funds amongst the membership to help each shop send a member. Chris (Chelan) and Greg (AESO) suggested that the company’s pay for a regular Airline fare and the normal hotel, registration and foods.
Next Spring meeting has been moved to Billings, Montana with the NorthWest Power Pool as the SW has moved their meeting back to SLTahoe. Fall meeting which was discussed being joint again in Las Vegas….some shops had issues with the image, but it was mentioned that this was the largest meeting on record with over one hundred in attendance. Cheap flight and rooms pushed the CEH’s to a new low.
Discussion on balance in account>> Arlen would like to see a motion to give the local host NWAPDA $1500 and National $1500 to the meeting host. The true cost is eight to ten thousand dollars now. Much discussion ensued and then the motion was made to handle local meeting that way, and hence forward.
Shelby Burchett, (DOPD) motioned and Ken Noggles, (Grant) seconded motion. A vote was taken and passed beginning with this meeting at Fortis.
Ken Gelsinger, (FortisBC) thanked all that came. Registration was slow, but all was good with twenty three members present.
Thanks to the Fortis team for the meeting Ken Gelsinger, Dave Kokiw, Sharon Traynor, Mitch Dobie, Ken Lebedoff and also Tech Support Clayton Stooshnoff. A special thanks to Len and Karen Markin for the inspirational speech at the Banquet and riding herd on the Hospitality House.
Tesla as always much appreciated in their support.
